To nap or not to nap?

To nap or not to nap?

If you have a daycare facility at your kennels or if you run an exclusive daycare centre, it is worth considering whether or not you will nap your dog throughout the day. Many daycare will operate for more than 8 hour per day and will see dogs of all ages attend. If you haven’t yet considered it, could it be time for a nap?

That is the question

Napping dogs whilst in daycare is an excellent way of ensuring the pets in your care are well rested, mentally and physically. Most daycares will accept dogs of all ages, including puppies. Regardless of how spongy your floor is, all that fun can be exhausting for puppy joints and minds.

As we know puppies can sleep up to 20 hours per day so it is wise to consider a nap time for. In our experience, all dogs enjoy their afternoon nap and are raring to go after their siesta.

Nap not only allows for mental rest but it allows the dogs to be fed lunch with adequate digestion time, to avoid fatal bloat. It is extremely important we aren’t feeding our dogs and then allowing them to run around.

Pet Concept can provide bespoke kennel and nap room suites to ensure you maximise your space and allow your pack luxurious slumber.

When designing your facility, it’s important to consider the practicality of the product but also the life expectancy. A large proportion of companies are short sighted in their approach and can then reduce their overall profit margins further down the life.

Over the years, as a facility owner I have spent thousands of pounds rectifying mistakes and poor choices when it came to designing my space. I would encourage all business owners to consult specialists within the industry.
